Mission 1 : Day 50 of 100 - Half Way Through!
Well Day 50 is here and I have to admit I have mixed feelings about my progress.
Okay … I have been achieving results as far as fat loss is concerned. In fact I have gone from 116.1 kg at the start of this 100 Day Mission to 111.6kg today. So that is a loss of 4.5kg (10 pounds) during the first half of the mission.
So from a fat loss point of view I am happy … though I am slightly behind on achieving my goal. My goal is to get to a bodyweight of 105kg by the end of the challenge. So I have to lose 6.6kg in the second half of the challenge. Not impossible and definitely a challenge
The reason I am having mixed feelings is that I have been failing in my committment to update my progress on a regular basis here at the blog.
For the most part I have been taking my pictures on a daily basis. I think I may have missed perhaps three days which is not to bad going. As far as keeping my food journal I have dropped off on this and need to get back to it.
I have failed in the past few weeks in my committment to update the blog and also to support my fellow Shredders in their journeys.
Whilst I am not into excuses, I have been feeling overwhelmed with life over the last few weeks. The renovations on our house in Geelong are taking more time than originally thought. In the next couple of weeks I will be spending a lot of time finishing off the renovations getting ready to move in. So during this time I will not have internet access.
Not much I can do about that for the next few weeks. I will do my best to keep as regular as possible in updating my progress, and also in supporting other shredders.
Ok … now that I have that off my chest
Today I went for a walk … started raining farily heavily and it was a liberating feeling not giving a damn about being totally soaked. Decided to run for a bit and discovered I was fitter than I had thought. Originally I was not going to start running until I was down to 105kg … maybe I will start to build it into my program earlier.
Here are my Day 50 pictures … half way there

Hey Anthony … thanks for dropping by and leaving your thoughts. Thats some pretty impressive weight loss … 2kg a week. Question for you … what % of that weight loss is fat?
Perhaps you can share with us what you are doing to lose 2kg a week.
Just looking at that number that works out to be 4.4 pounds a week which would require a calorie deficit of 15,400 for the week … or 2,000 calories in deficit a day. How do you keep that up?
Its great to lose weight fast but don’t mistake it for fat loss.
I have been focused on burning fat which in total so far is about 15kg … I have gained 4 kg of muscle which has ramped my metabolism up.
Great thing is … this is not a race (well not for me anyway)
Appreciate your comments and feedback.
Rod

im not slating you or anything , if anything to keep ur mind on track and commitment
wasnt a calorie deficit like you say altho i did reduce intake , i ate full foods instead of processed chicken i boil it and eat veg , gym 5 days a week religiously , i used to hate it but now i enjoy it , no matter what pops up just say
” its only 90 mins ” then ur free etc
be good and dont lose heart

Anthony and Rod,
Guys! Forget the damned scale! Here’s the deal…body fat percentage is the key to success. Let’s look at two men who start at 200 pounds each. Both are at 25% body fat. The math is simple. That’s 50 pounds of fat and 150 pounds of LBM. Man #1 loses weight quickly at an average of 4 pounds a week. After 10 weeks, man #1 is at 160 pounds and is down to 20% body fat after losing 0.5% a week. Man #2 is down to 180 pounds and 15% body fat after losing 1% a week for 10 weeks. Who is healthier? Let’s do the math. Man #1 is 160 pounds and 20% body fat, so he is carrying 32 pounds of fat. Man #2 is 180 pounds and is at 15% body fat, so he is carrying 27 pounds of body fat. Man #2 is healthier because he is carrying 5 pounds less fat on his body.
If Man #1 and Man #2 stayed focused on the scale (like you, Anthony) they’d think Man #1 was healthier and they’d be wrong. Weight on a scale is just a number…it is an indicator of progress and nothing more. As Rod asks, if you are losing 4.4 pounds a week, that’s WAY too fast. You are for sure losing muscle. The idea is to save the muscle and lose the fat. Read “Burn the Fat, FEed the Muscle” by Tom Venuto if you don’t get it.
Rod, with that said, well done!

Anthony, another question you say it was not “a calorie deficit” but you did “reduce intake” so how exactly do you “reduce intake” without that being “a calorie deficit”?
February 3rd, 2008 at 7:27 pm
michael dont be a fucking wanker
of course it was lower cals
but not starvation as people think , im allowed 3500 cals to maintain weight so i reduced it to 3000
still plenty for food and no food after 7pm and gym 5 days a week, doing 40 mins weights and 30 mins hiit
February 4th, 2008 at 4:28 am
Anthony, I will ignore you rude comment, but remind you that you are the one who stated you were not on a calorie deficit. I will also that losing 4-1/2 pounds a week on average is definitely not a good thing. You are losing muscle for sure at that rate. There is just no other explanation. Thus, you will be like Man #1 in my example above–you will end up with the lower weight, but the higher body fat percentage, so that’s definitely not the healthiest of progress. I think Rod should be commended for controlling the speed with which he loses weight. It isn’t a race (as he stated). FYI, first time I’ve ever been called “a wanker” by anyone. I think you should keep that insult to yourself.
February 4th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Rod, your face and your stomach are both much thinner. Congratulations on your results.
Good luck on your renovations and hope to see you back here soon.

Debbie

michael go jump off a cliff ok
im not a fitness freak ok i just want to lose weight not be all scupted
i dont care how mch is fat or muscle
i’ll lose weight and tone up then
February 7th, 2008 at 6:16 am
Hey DUMBASS (I mean Anthony), what’s your problem idiot? You don’t need to be a “fitness freak” to lose weight properly. You don’t care how much is fat or muscle? How frigging ridiculous is that? So if you start out at 250 pounds and have 30% body fat, that gives you 75 pounds of fat. If you lose 50 pounds and now weigh 200 pounds and still have 75 pounds of fat because all you lost was muscle, what the HELL are you going to use to “tone up then” DUMBASS? You won’t have enough muscle to even BOTHER toning up. I can’t stand idiotic morons with their heads up their ass like you. You have no clue what you are doing and certainly aren’t showing a willingness to learn either. You come to Rod’s blog and diss him for not working hard enough and then you have the gall to say you just want to lose weight and don’t care how much is fat and how much is muscle? That’s the easy way out. People who are working hard CARE about how much fat they lose because THAT (losing fat) is THE OBJECTIVE. You are truly an idiot. Go back under the rock you crawled from under and continue to lose muscle. I pray you get so weak that you won’t have the strength to crawl back out from under that rock anymore. Good luck losing muscle you idiot. Hahaha! Sculpted! You crack me up. You aren’t going to have any muscle to get sculpted with. LOL What a fool. Oh yeah, and where are YOUR pictures? It is very easy to hide out and make the types of comments you’ve made. Big man behind the computer I see. Let’s see your pictures so we all know what a wussy we are dealing with. Again, I can’t stand idiots like you.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Rod,
You better get back onto your website pronto mate, these guys are having a real fightout. Guys, stop the argument here, it is your own personal journeys, so do it your own way and see what happens. Anyway, Rod ,keep up the good work on your weight loss journey.
As you have witnessed yourself it is difficult to keep this kind of thing going every day. You cannot go to a wedding or family day out, for example and then leave to take off your clothes to have your pictures taken. So this accountability method needs massive commitment.
But we need you back, to keep us followers going, You were like Moses parting the red sea and leading us from slavery, but as you are now gone the waters are closing in on us.
your Pod casts were great, made lots of sense. You should patent your “Fit food / Fat Food” concept as it is really simple to follow. You are lucky to have that fab weather in Australia, Here in Ireland it is pouring with rain since Christmas day , we are stuck inside on the treadmill.
But still waiting for Roger Moore (007) to get back in cyberspace and get us moving.
Hope to have you back soon. (just a thought for you, After all your research , haven’t you simply recommended exactly what weight watchers have been doing for 50 odd years, Reduce calorie intake, get more exercise and have accountability (weekly weigh in plus motivation chat) not sure how you can start a business if this system is already out there)
Ringo.
February 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Hey Ringo, I don’t intend to respond to that idiot Anthony again, so no worreis. However, when someone calls me a “fucking wanker” and says I should “jump off a cliff” when they obviously have no clue how to lose weight in a healthy manner, I’m going to say something PERIOD. Rod has done a FANTASTIC job and I don’t like that this moron is bad mouthing him. INteresting that Rod hasn’t been back since Anthony Moron posted his comment, isn’t it?
February 7th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Hey Rod,
I want you to eliminate the word failure from your vocabulary. You have not failed. You’re still plugging away man. You should be proud of yourself for embarking on this journey.
You’ve got the face the fact that life will get in the way. Hey man, it happens to the best of us. I can assure that it’s happened several time to me. It’s not about striving for perfection.
It sounds like you’ve listened to some Unstoppable Fat Loss audios. You should know then that the path to success is never a straight road. You’ve just experienced a bit of a swerve in your path. Now it’s time to straighten it out buddy.
Lets get back to posting daily. I don’t care if it’s one sentence.
Get back to journaling. After all when you complete your journey the journal will be a blueprint for fat loss success.
Your goal is worth fighting for. Keep plugging away!
Scott Tousignant

Hey everyone … wow … looks like things have got out of control here while I was away. Thats a shame … but thats life. As I see it we all have different views and we should respect that. No need for name calling
so perhaps we can drop that?
Well … just to clarify a few things … I have not given up on my goals to get lean and burn the fat. Still going very strong there.
What I am doing, and the reason I am not able to post to this Blog every day is spending a lot of time (more than planned) on renovating the house I plan to move into in three weeks time. Whilst I am at the house I have no access to Internet etc to update blog, hence the reason I have not been here posting.
My focus on my goal and commitment to it though is still 100%.
Thanks everyone for dropping by and for your support.
Looking forward to getting back into more frequent posting here once renovations are more complete.
Regards
Rod

I think that you really can judge people by the way they comment different stuff. Some people, even expressing negative thoughts, are still polite and they respect and understand other people. Some people are not even trying to be nice, they just don’t care. I think self-confident person will always act nice, no matter what other people do
